Stephen, Kristi and Don set out on a very hot Sunday afternoon in August, over 100 degrees, to head to the Tail of the Dragon. Traveling the interstate to make time, we made our first stop just west of Cookeville, where Kristi was just about done in by the heat. (ATGATT maybe wasn't such a good idea when it's 104 degrees!) After a good long break, we continued on over the Cumberland Plateau, which has to be one of the most gorgeous areas of Tennessee. We stayed in Maryville for the night, before tackling the Dragon the next morning. We were so early, in fact, that only Stephen got his picture taken by Killboy, and that was only on his second run. The weather was great, we weren't hassled by the TN State Patrol, and we all made it through to North Carolina safely. The other major biking destination was the Cherohala Skyway, which was loads of fun, even when covered with freshly-cut grass.
